The Association was founded in 1980 and will be celebrating their 28th anniversary this year. The group sponsors the “Art in Public Places” program, keeping several public buildings in local artwork including Delta Memorial Hospital, First National Bank in Delta, the Heritage Room at the Appleshed Complex Gallery in Cedaredge, The Coffee Barn in Cedaredge and the Bill Heddles Recreation Center in Delta. They alternate meetings on the second Monday of the Month between the Appleshed and the First National Bank in Delta.

Workshops, demonstrations and art programs are offered at each meeting. Anyone interested in art is welcome. Delta Fine Arts group also publishes a monthly newsletter. For more information on joining the Delta Fine Arts- call Joann Price 835-3065.

Gina Grundemann was raised in Western Montana and has lived throughout Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. She now resides at the base of the San Juan Mountains in Montrose. Gina gained a B.F.A. in Printmaking from Colorado State University and an A.F.A. in Photography from Sheridan College. She has exhibited in Grand Junction, Fort Collins, Montrose, New Mexico and was a participant in the Pojoaque River Studio Tour. A member of the Art Center in Grand Junction, the Montrose Artists Guild and Creamery Arts Center, Gina has artwork in the collections at Colorado State University and private collections throughout the West and also represented by Kagan & Baron Gallery of Fine Art in Montrose, CO.

She gathers her impressions and inspiration by exploring the back roads, alleyways and rural scenes from the local countryside. “ The images I create are intended to be welcoming and serene. Having grown up in the Rocky Mountains of Western Montana, I spent many weekends and summers on my grandparent’s farm where I nurtured a love of the quietude and direct honesty of the pastoral lifestyle, which continues to inspire me in the landscape paintings I creates today. This is reflected in my paintings of agricultural icons, old structures, farm fields and animals.

My paintings often take on new directions and a life of their own as I explore the textural patterns, color and movement.” Grundemanns’ works are bright with vivid patterns and a touch of fantasy that move the viewer through her paintings of iconic pastoral images. - mauve skies, lots of atmosphere, elongated shadows, cows and farmhouses are common elements coupled with vibrant waves of crops and meandering country roads.

Her images of animals are set against slightly primitive landscapes with a hint of abstraction. These are works painted from the hand of someone deeply in touch with her subjects and they reflect the pastoral beauty of Western America.

Gina Grundemann’s new oil paintings will be available for viewing starting July 2nd and continuing through July 27th. The public is invited to the Artist’s Reception on July 11th from 6pm to 8pm. Refreshments and hors d’ oeuvres will be served along with live music and special gallery events.

The Young Artist Gallery will feature the finished projects from the Summer Youth Camps and Arts After School Programs. The youth enrolled in summer camps have toured the Hotchkiss area throughout the summer learning about plants, flowers and birds. They have integrated their learning into the creation of nature studies, bird houses, and the search for interesting materials to weave into masterpieces with twisted tree branches, cattail leaves, flowers and yarn. Their finished pieces reflect the students’ mastery of these unique projects.
